There is a Pete DuPont, member of the well-known Delaware chemical
family, who used to be governor of Delaware. He may have been a
state senator (I forget) but has never been a US senator.

He presides over a right-wing propaganda mill called the National
Center for Policy Analysis. http://www.ncpa.org/abo/staff/pdupont.html
