The best programme I have come across is the German one - they design their cars 
for disassembly (DFD) and are required, by legislation, to take back the car no matter 
what condition - subsequently, they have reduced the number of different types of 
materials substantially, to improve re-usability as well as recyclability, and have pretty 
much stopped making any part a sealed unit - they are all now easy to take apart...
