Auto wreckers have been dismantling and selling cars and car parts for decades and we've only recently started thinking of it as "recycling."   A quick internet search on "auto wrecking" and "Los Angeles" brought up dozens of web sites.  The City of Long Beach deals with a company called Ecology Auto Parts (http://www.ecoparts.com) for all the towed/totalled vehicles that find their way into our impound yard and don't find their way back to their owners.  Check out local auto wreckers in your area.
