[GreenYes] Are metal lids recyclable?

Howdy folks,

Are metal lids recyclable?  I'm talking about the lids that are commonly
used for glass jars.
Can these items typically be recycled in a steel/tin can recycling bin?  Or
does the plastic liner on the inside of the lid make it difficult/impossible
to recycle?
I'm curious about what is happening in different parts of the U.S.
