[GreenYes] Coal & CO2
John Vann asks: "Does anyone know of a kilowatt-hour to CO2 tonnage
conversion when electricity is produced by burning coal?"

According to EPA ("Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Management of Selected
Materials in MSW, 1998), the carbon equivalent for coal used in the U.S. to
produce 1,736 billion kWh of electricity is 26.63 Kg C in CO2/million Btu.
(at Exhibit 6-4, p. 88).
