The National Solid Wastes Management Association is expected this week to
announce that America's solid waste bill tops $60 billion annually. The
estimate is built on a recent study in Florida by R.W. Beck.

In addition, stock analysts now estimate that publicly traded companies
handle nearly half of the nation's trash, municipalities pick up about 30
percent and privately owned firms are responsible for the remainder.
