Cedar Rapids, Iowa, also operates a single stream program with glass collected separately. The City had trucks designed (Labrie) that have separate compartments for clear and colored glass. The recycling processor, City Carton Recycling, has a very low residue rate, typically under 1.5%. The program works very efficiently and effectively. Residents place glass in their own separate container next to their recycling bin/cart. Being a bottle bill state, Iowa does not have all the liquor, beer, and wine bottles in their curbside program because they are redeemed for the deposit at grocery stores and other redemption centers.
