European economics ministers have endorsed former Dutch prime minister
Wim Kok's call for the EU to focus its Lisbon strategy for sustainable
competitiveness on boosting growth, employment and productivity.  The
recommendation has widely been seen as potentially in conflict with
attention to environmental issues.
