Christine: I'd say that one thing you could "do" to counteract such propaganda is to send out a letter to the editor in your local newspaper, or a guest opinion in your local newspaper, or a press realease from your organization on the day of the airing and clarify what "trash" their propaganda is and provide your expertise and experience as proof.
