[GreenYes] Zero Waste Olympics redux
- Subject: [GreenYes] Zero Waste Olympics redux

Vancouver is bidding on the 2010 Winter Olympics. In a plebiscite this
month, Vancouver voters will send a signal to the IOC on whether there is
popular support for the games. The vote is expected to be evenly split.
The Recycling Council of BC is considering a stream of sessions at its June
conference (one month before the IOC decision) that will look at how to
make a Zero Waste Olympics.
Gary Liss provided an excellent summary of the SL Olympics on the GRRN
website http://grrn.org/olympics/olympics_update_01-21-02.html. I note that
this weekend is a big one-year anniversary of the SL Olympics in Salt Lake
(http://www.saltlake2002.com/) but there is NO MENTION OF REPORT CARD on
how they did on the Zero Waste goal.
Does anyone -- Gary?? -- have a progress report?
Helen.
