Re: [GreenYes] Battery Recycling
As far as I know, regular alkalines are not being recycled any where. If
you take regular batteries to a hazardous waste facility, they are secured
in "leak proof" containers and landfilled.

However, regular alkaline batteries can be recharged 6-12 times using a
special battery recharger. For more info., contact: www.realgoods.com

The recharger costs $50 and it works well. I've tried it.

and take them there. HD in Idaho will only 'take-back!' batteries that are
supported by their manufacturers. As a result, they will only accept DeWalt
batteries (i.e. power tool batteries).

so, they will take all of your batteries - any size and any type - usually
at no cost to you. Call your local solid waste office.
