Roger and Helen,
That's happening all over California. Dropoffs, buybacks and curbside are
all serving different constituencies, and working well together to maximize
waste diversion. Single-stream curbside systems provide the maximum
convenience and increase diversion amounts. Buybacks provide the maximum
value. Dropoffs are usually run by nonprofits that attract donations for
their cause, or provide service for difficult to recycle
materials. Residents get to choose what's most important to them:
convenience, price or a cause.
