The key ingredient missing in C. William's analysis is the
toxicity of the plastic. What makes the plastics so reprehensible
is not that they reach an end to their "useful" life, but that
when they do, they are poisonous relics. Same for most every
petroleum based product. One of the key's to reaching our forum's
goals is to clean things up: no toxic emissions, byproducts, or
end life.
