[GreenYes] a letter to Pepsi
Just wanted to share a good letter written by someone
from the heartlands of America...

> TO: PepsiCo CEO Steve Reinemund
>
> Dear Steve,
> According to an article in Plastics Recycling Update, in 1990 Pepsi
agreed
> to use bottles made of recycled plastics. The problem is you have not

done
> that. Now you have gone and purchased Gatorade, and have brought this

sport
> drink product to your non-recycled plastic bottles as well. Did you
not
> know that Gatorade was the primary user of recycled plastics in their
> bottles? Now you expect to make the change and no one will know the
> difference? Wrong, Steve! You see, most of your Pepsi Generation has
grown
> up to be environmentally conscious. Thus Baby Boomers like me do care,
and
> will do what we can to help your company make the correct decision. I
can't
> say that I drink much Pepsi, but I do drink Gatorade, and will not do
so
> again until I read the report that you are living up to your 1990
promise.
> I also work for a large school district that has nearly 200 beverage
vending
> machines in our schools. Our school district also recycles. Last
year we
> recycled 207 tons of material including plastic bottles. I will be
glad
to
> work with our principals asking them to place more environmentally
friendly
> beverage products in our schools. I do believe that Coke used 10%
recycled
> content in all their bottles, not just their sports line.
>
> You see Steve, it is easy, just do the right thing.
>
> Sincerely
>
