Title: City business recycles Styrofoam

Earth Share of North Carolina (ESNC): – ESNC’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of our

participating organizations to preserve and enhance the natural environment. We do this by raising

operational support through employee workplace giving campaigns and by educating the general

public about the value of protecting NC’s natural resources through environmental non-profit

organizations. ESNC has completed 16 years of campaigns and has raised over $5 million for NC and

the planet.

Summary of Job Description – This is a full-time business development and fundraising position.

This person has two primary responsibilities: 1- developing new partnerships with businesses to

expand the number of workplaces where environmental giving is an option, and 2- developing

corporate relationships that result in support for ESNC operations. It is essential that this person be

able to communicate the value of the environmental non-profit community and the power of individual

giving to North Carolina employers, potential financial supporters, and the public at large.

Key Features:

􀂙 Full-time – Available January 2008 (application deadline 12/21, applications accepted until

job filled)

􀂙 Salary – $30,000 to $35,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits included.

􀂙 Location – ESNC’s office is located in Durham. Statewide travel is required, with a focus on the

Triangle, Greensboro, the Piedmont Triad area, and Central Carolinas.

Responsibilities Include:

Securing new workplace campaigns

o Working with the Executive Director to develop and implement a plan to increase the

number of workplaces that include ESNC as an employee giving option.

o Using various electronic, print and person contact methods to research and identify

prospects

o Making presentations to decision makers and/or attending meetings with ED to discuss

and close campaigns agreements.

Communicating regularly with ESNC organizations to coordinate, support, and move forward

their activities to expand ESNC’s workplace partnerships.

Developing opportunities to engage new businesses with ESNC

Overseeing development of materials, print and electronic, to present ESNC to business

prospects

Increasing operational support for ESNC from corporate and retail sources. Managing

sponsorship for annual Campout!Carolina event and ESNC’s Annual Meeting.

Providing staff support to the Access and Development Committees.

Making quarterly reports to the Board of Directors.

Attending annual workplace giving educational events.

Compiling bi-monthly e-mail newsletter and other marketing projects.

Managing contact database.

Candidate Qualifications:

􀂙 Minimum of three years of professional experience in sales, business development or fundraising,

or equivalent relationship building required. (workplace fundraising, non-profit, and/or

environmental experience is preferable).

􀂙 Very strong written and verbal communication. Persuasive public speaking is required.

􀂙 Strong organization and time/project management skills are a requirement.

􀂙 Committee and group meeting/training coordination experience helpful.

􀂙 Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with a variety of groups.

􀂙 Able to work in a dynamic environment while maintaining good organization of time and projects.

􀂙 Flexible, team-oriented work style.

􀂙 Problem solver.

􀂙 A high level of computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

􀂙 Appreciation for the value of the environmental non-profit community.
