Mary Appelhof died unexpectedly this week. She had been diagnosed with cancer 
just 3 weeks ago and had emergency surgery, from which she never recovered.

She was a zero waste activist and the author of Worms Eat My Garbage and can 
certainly take much credit for the growth in vermicomposting.  Check out her
