URGE AAA TO END ITS 'DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL' 

LOBBYING POLICY

Are you a member of AAA? Do you know someone who 
is? With 45 million members, the odds are that 
you do. 

But did you know that AAA has teamed up with 
automakers and other industry lobbyists and used 
its membership dollars to fight the Clean Air Act, 
fuel economy standards, public transportation 
initiatives and other vital environmental 
legislation? No? Well, don't feel stupid -- it's 
not you, it's them. After all, the club's home 
page describes its activity as "AAA. Everyday. 
Automotive Services. Financial Services. 
Insurance. Travel." Lobbying is conveniently left 
off. 

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is standard operating 
procedure for the club's Washington lobbyists. 
They DON'T ASK AAA members for their opinions and 
they DON'T TELL them that their membership 
dollars are being used for anti-environmental 
lobbying.

Please express your disappointment by sending a 
quick letter to the club. With the federal 
transportation bill up for reauthorization this 
winter, now is also a great time to tell AAA your 
position on the issue and ask the club to 
publicize their position and lobbying efforts.
