This is a pretty significant breakthrough. H-P has for
the first time pledged publicly to support individual producer
responsibility for their products.

In switch, HP announces support for e-waste bill
In a shift that will change how toxic electronic waste is recycled in
California and possibly nationwide, Hewlett-Packard has said it will
support state legislation to require PC manufacturers to bear the cost of
computer disposal.
