[GreenYes] recycling and economic development

we have lots of reports on recycling and economic development but few
are available for free.

We did write a report for the National Recycling Coalition in 1998 that
is available on line. Called Government/Community Based Sources and
Strategies for Financing Recycling Enterprises, it includes steps for
linking recycling-based community development and small business
financing. It's available at:

I think our best report on the subject of recycling and economic
development is:  Recycling Economic Development Through Scrap-Based
Manufacturing (1994)

We also did a series of booklets on reuse that document the economic
development benefits of reuse operations.  And we have booklets on
financing and business plan development for recycling-related ventures,
and on strategies to develop local recycling-based production

Our 1995 report, Recycling Means Business for the Baltimore, DC, and
Richmond Regions, documents the jobs and revenues created by recycling
and disposal operations in these three cities.

And our 2000 report, Wasting and Recycling in the United States 2000,
includes data on recycling's economic benefits and policies that sustain
