Notes: 1) Hayward is located between Oakland and San Jose; it has
reasonable housing prices (for the Bay Area). 2) Ms. Dahle-Lacaze is a

JOB: Recycling Specialist, City of Hayward, California
SALARY: Monthly Range: $4,218 - $5,105 (including deferred comp & City
payment of employee's retirement contribution), plus medical, dental,
vision, life insurance, vacation, and 14 holidays.
FINAL FILING DATE: Monday, April 9, 2001 by 5:00 P.M. in the Personnel
Department.
THE POSITION: Under general supervision, the Recycling Specialist will
assist in planning, implementing and administering the City's recycling
programs, with emphasis on commercial recycling. Typical duties: working
with commercial establishments to develop self-administered recycling
programs; conducting recycling assessments; drafting grant proposals;
preparing complex staff reports; administering and monitoring the City
facility recycling program; developing and maintaining computer data bases;
developing and implementing public education programs designed to raise
community awareness of recycling needs and resources; resolving citizen
complaints, making presentations and conducting research and analytical
studies.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Minimum one year experience in developing, coordinating and
implementing public or private recycling programs or non-burn resource
recovery programs.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or
university with major course work in environmental studies, resource
management, public administration or a closely related field. Additional
responsible program experience may be substituted for up to two years of the
required education.
