"Future ONP Supply Expected to be Tight

"The American Forest and Paper Association announced that old newspapers would see the largest future consumption growth among the major recovered paper grade categories. AFPA recent capacity survey concluded that through the year 2003, the use of ONP will increase an average of 3.5 percent per year, well above other paper industry growth rates.

"William Moore, president of Moore & Associates, indicated "after a decade of mostly oversupply, ONP will see a stronger demand in the years to come. This was evident during the end of last year when most recovered paper grade prices were falling and ONP held its ground. ONP demand growth will not be limited to the United States; the Canadian, European and Pacific Rim newsprint producers all continue to add recycled newsprint capacity."
