[GreenYes] Tech companies make old growth pledge
Tech giants to stop using old-growth-forest products
By Bloomberg News

Microsoft and Intel are among eight technology companies that have agreed to
stop using products such as paper and packaging made from old-growth
forests, according to reports.

The companies are expected to make the announcement in a full-page
advertisement set to run in Monday's edition of the magazine Industry
Standard, according to The Wall Street Journal. The other companies are
Texas Instruments, AT&T, CMGI, 3Com, E*Trade and Ikon Office Solutions, the
newspaper said.

Builders and their suppliers have slowly implemented such bans in the past
few years in response to demands from environmentalists, the paper said.
Some environmental groups are relying on market forces to get companies to
implement bans, instead of working to change laws.
