CALIFORNIA STATE RECYCLING CONFERENCE EXPANDS TO INCLUDE POLLUTION
PREVENTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE TRACKS AND FULL DAY WORKSHOP ON GREENING THE
HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY

SAN FRANCISCO - The 1999 CRRA conference will have an entire track devoted
to climate change and pollution prevention issues, including sessions that
will cover the automotive lubricant life cycle, including oil recycling and
the use of rerefined oil; case studies on pollution prevention in the dry
cleaning and metal finishing industries and mercury reduction options;
pollution prevention through public policies; promoting hazardous waste
collection and how waste prevention, reuse and recycling can help reduce
global warming. The conference also features the first ever healthcare
waste workshop. This workshop, designed to help participants implement cost
effective, standardized, sustainable waste prevention, pollution prevention
and recycling healthcare programs, will be conducted by experts from around
the country.

The CRRA conference is the premiere event for professionals engaged in
reuse, recycling, composting and market development in the State of
California. It will be held June 6th - 9th at Fort Mason in San Francisco.
This year's conference features eleven different tracks, with up to eight
sessions per track, as well as tours and workshops.

The tracks focus on Policy and Legislation; Local and State Government;
Business, The Three R's and Sustainability; Sustainable Cities: Green
Building Design and Construction Practices; Materials, Technology and
Markets; Recycling Collection Options; Yard, Food, Wood and Other Organic
Materials; Community Economic Development; Outreach - Marketing, Advertising
and Promotion; and Collegiate and School Recycling. The workshops focus on
Writing Specifications For Government, Promoting Zero Waste, Innovative
Financing Strategies for Recycling Businesses, Waste Prevention and Greening
the Hospital Industry.

The conference theme is The Zero Waste Connection: Community, Business And
Sustainability, and the event is expected to attract more than 1,000 people,
including recycling professionals, business representatives, representatives
from government agencies, and participants from non-profit organizations, as
well as individuals.
