Dear List members -

Here's an inquiry I got today that maybe someone can help me on?

Thanks,

John Reindl

Do you know of any environmental or do-it-yourself or craft-carpentry group
whcih would have any ideas or plans for small-scale recycling of wood
pallets?

I Iwould like to use wood pallets (available here free for the hauling) to
make raised gardening beds or boxes for container gardening, but I need
practical pointers on the basics: would one rip them apart with a crowbar,
cut them with a circular saw, or are they just too naily and screwy to be
worth the effort?

Can the wood be smashed apart and burned in a wood stove, or would the
presence of metal nails/screws present problems in the stove?

Has anybody put out any booklets or videos, or written any articles, on
wood pallet construction for the home or farm?

Hoping to hear...

Julianne Wiley
