This is a very good idea.   I am sure Yamato Co also use their composters to clear unsold food products in their chain of supermarkets.  

Seven & i Holdings Co., the parent company of the major convenience store chain Seven-Eleven Japan Co. have been composting unsold food products collected from their stores since 2003.  They use the service of Agri Gaia System Co., a company specializing in food recycling.
