For an article in the No. Calf. Recycling Assn. News, I wrote that Coke's plan to get into the production of soda bottles with recycled PET resin is the biggest recycling story of the year. If it sets up a competition with the carpet industry for used PET that would raise prices, no one will like that, so I think Coke must be planning some efforts to increase the inflow of used PET bottles. Will this also create a wedge between grocers and Coke who may now be more friendly to bottle bills, the best known way to increase the flow?
