Hi Amy, I guess the question is over the "precautionary principle". Replacing something toxic with something non-toxic can definitely have a worse environmental outcome. Shouldn't the precautionary principle itself be lifecycle based? Diamonds are certainly non-toxic, but I recommend "Blood Diamond" to anyone who thinks that they pass the precautionary principle.
