***************** In yesterday's posting I mis-characterized the study from
the Netherlands.  It's not a study of recycling versus disposal; rather it's
a comparison of the two main disposal methods - landfill with energy
recovery from collected landfill gas versus incineration with energy
recovery.  And the conclusion is that on a societal life cycle cost basis
burying is better than burning, even in a densely populated country like the
Netherlands where landfill space is quite expensive.
