2005 NYSAR3 and NYSDEC 16th Annual Recycling Conference
Celebrate America Recycles Day
Clarion Riverside Hotel, Rochester, NY
November 15 and 16, 2005

"Waste is A Resource in the Wrong Place."

Rochester, NY - Tuesday, November 15, at noon the Vendor Show opens highlighting recycling products and services. All are welcome to visit the vendors whether a conference registrant or not.

New this year is a seven hour Household Hazardous Waste Refresher Course being offered separately yet in conjunction with this conference. Those who take the course will be recertified for hazardous waste programs. The course fees are $175.00 for non-NYSAR members and free to all registered NYSAR3 members.

1:00 pm the Recycling Conference officially opens with a welcome by Sharon Fisher, NYSAR3's president, followed by Edward Doherty, Commissioner of Environmental Services, who will highlight Rochester's Best City Award.

Following the welcome is an introduction to Zero Waste by the experts, Resa Dimino, Grassroots Recycling Network, Timothy Logan, New York City Zero Waste Campaign, and
Dr. Nabil Nasr from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Later that afternoon choices will be available to learn about Zero Waste Businesses: Xerox, Harbec Plastics and M.Fine Lumber or current Legislation and the strategies needed.

6:00pm you are invited to a attend the NYSAR3's Recycler of the Year Award and Celebration of America Recycles Day that will include surprises, prizes, hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Do not miss it.

Wednesday, November 16 starts with a choice of tours to the Frito Lay Distribution Center, a leader in energy programs, the RIT Remanufacturing Center or Metro Waste Paper. If you prefer to stay back, ask questions and make comments with the experts from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Empire State Development, Zero Waste principals and others.

The first sessions of the day include Recycling Breakthroughs and Environmental Improvements In Design, a learning experience for all.

Lunch at noon features guest speaker, Pete Grogan of Weyerhaeuser, Marketing Manager of Paper and Containerboard, and the NYS DEC America Recycles Day Poster Contest Winners

During the remainder of the afternoon learn about Maximum Diversion Techniques & Technologies and Health: A Recycling Issue. This rounds out the conference.
