During the process of amending the Countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan, the Citizenâs Advisory Committee (CAC) of the Local Task Force identified the need to develop a strategic plan to manage existing and future organic resources. The Committee cited the fact that half or more of San Diego County's discarded solid waste stream is organic, capable of being reused or processed to make products that rebuild the physical structure and nutrient content of our region's soils. In response, County of San Diego, in cooperation with the CAC, initiated an Organic Resource Management Project. This project brings stakeholders together to ensure a common understanding of the issues and opens a dialogue to frame a long-term, sustainable organic resource management strategy. The Organic Resource Management Project conference will be held on November 3rd, 2005, (9-1) at the Recital Hall in Balboa Park, San Diego California If you would like more information about this project, or have any questions, please contact Wayne Williams, Program Coordinator, Solid Waste Planning and Recycling, Department of Public Works, at 858- 874-4108 or Richard Anthony, CEO, Richard Anthony and Associates, at 858-272-2905.
