[greenyes] Auto Recycling in the EC

Deal reached on EU car recyclability rules
Environment Daily 1848, 30/03/05
-------------------------
Governments and MEPs have reached a first-reading agreement on
legislation to create new EU car recyclability requirements, it has
emerged. The directive will force manufacturers to build vehicles to
standards enabling member states to meet recycling targets in the 2000
end-of-life vehicles (ELV) directive.

Under the deal, producers must apply the recyclability standards when
launching new models from three years after the law enters force.
Eighteen months later the rules will apply to all new cars, regardless
of when the model was launched.
