Deal reached on EU car recyclability rules Environment Daily 1848, 30/03/05 ------------------------- Governments and MEPs have reached a first-reading agreement on legislation to create new EU car recyclability requirements, it has emerged. The directive will force manufacturers to build vehicles to standards enabling member states to meet recycling targets in the 2000 end-of-life vehicles (ELV) directive. Under the deal, producers must apply the recyclability standards when launching new models from three years after the law enters force. Eighteen months later the rules will apply to all new cars, regardless of when the model was launched. "... "...
