Chaz Miller brings up a good point.  I too contend that the estimates quoted on the size of the recycling industry are vastly overstated, especially for the glass and steel industries.  These concerns were raised when the study was issued and have never received an adequate response from the study's sponsors and supporters (EPA, NRC, etc.).  Recycling advocates would scream like bloody murder if a polluting industry used similarly sloppy research.  EPA and others should revisit the study and improve it, rather than continually brag about its misleading and inaccurate results.
