[greenyes] Clarification
David's e-mail brings up good points, especially in terms of the move to plastics from glass in food packaging (which is definitely continuing). But these changes in materials use are affecting more than glass. Watch for rising use of HDPE in small-size milk applications. Many schools and day care centers are abandong paper containers for plastic.

A clarification. About 55 percent of the glass bottles sold in the U.S. are for packaging beer. The other major sales sectors are food (20 percent), other beverages (7 percent), wine (5 percent) and liquor (5 percent).

I'd love to locate a chart that shows materials use by beverage type and consumption site (home, bar and restaurant, public event and sports venues, etc.).
