Hello All -

I recently visited Smith Island, MD where they are having some problems with
their solid waste management program. They have a drop off center that would
greatly benefit by having 8-12, 96-gallon carts on wheels to collect
recyclables.  If anyone knows anyone in the area who might be willing to
donate carts to the folks on Smith Island that would be great!

For those of you who are not familiar with the island, it is located in the
Chesapeake Bay. Their only access to the mainland is by ferry boat/mail boat
a few times daily.  Right now they manage their solid waste using a rather
old hand-loading incinerator (ash is transported off island and disposed of
in a county landfill).  They have applied for funds to replace it with a new
incinerator, but they are also interested in opportunities to recover
recyclables.
