[greenyes] St. Jude's Ranch for Children

Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2003 10:25:48 -0800
From: "Pedersen, Marialyce" <Marialyce.Pedersen@no.address>

I recently learned from Greg Dorf of Walt Disney World's Environmental
Initiatives Department that Saint Jude's Ranch for Children, where Disney
and many others have directed used holiday and greeting cards for reuse, is
now maxxed out on used-card supplies. They have a two-year backlog on hand
now, and have encouraged us find alternate recipients for them.

I thought we might help them "close the loop" by creating some additional
demand for the new cards, through this forwardable e-mail message to
encourage everyone to shop for them at St. Jude's on-line store. (Some
Kinko's stores also may carry them.)

The children at St. Jude's create "new" Christmas cards, both religious and
non-religious, and assorted cards for other occasions, which enables them
to learn the value of work and earn money. They are sold in boxes of 10 for
$10.95.

This is a great reuse program which can be even more successful with your
support on the demand side, so please forward this message to appropriate
e-mail contacts. With your help, we can ensure that the St. Jude's Greeting
Card Recycling program will continue successfully into the future.

(St. Jude's is a non-profit, non-sectarian home for abused, abandoned and
neglected children of all races and faiths, dedicated to breaking the cycle
of poverty, abuse and welfare dependency, by providing home-like
environments that ensure healing services to each child can achieve his or
her full potential.)
