The training will be held on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11 at
Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. You must attend both days.

THE AGENDA

On Friday, attendees will learn from several leading electronics recycling
experts. Jerry Powell of Resource Recycling Magazine will present the state
of affairs in electronics recycling. Robin Ingenthron of American Retroworks
will help workshop participants navigate the complex ethical and
environmental issues associated with the export of used electronics
overseas.

Attendees will also receive an up-to-the-minute briefing on California's new
computer recycling law, which is the first in the nation to require a
point-of-purchase fee on new electronics. The fee will be used to establish
a funding pool to cover the costs of managing the products at their
end-of-life.

The workshop will also feature a hands-on primer on the components in a
computer. In the afternoon, attendees will learn about the nuts and bolts
and site logistics of establishing programs to collect computers and other
electronics for recycling and reuse, in preparation for the Saturday
collection event.

For Friday's full agenda, go to http://www.nrc-recycle.org and click on the
link on the homepage.

On Saturday, attendees will help staff a real computer recycling event
serving the residents of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties on the Stanford
campus, putting Friday's lessons to work immediately and giving attendees
the confidence that comes with the hands-on experience of working an actual
event. Attendees will be divided into teams to set up and run the event;
learn how to sort, wrap and pack a truck with old electronics; collect data;
manage volunteers and traffic flow; and more.

YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE BY TUESDAY AT 5:00 P.M. PACIFIC TIME.
