Thanks Lance. If you took my e-mail as a suggestion of all it would
take, you misread it.
I'm all too familiar with the kinds of personal contact and relationship
building that go into moving policy and moving support for that policy.
In fact, when I shook the hand of one of my senators at a progressive
function here in WI three weeks ago, the first thing I asked him was to
co-sponsor Sen. Jefford's national beverage producer responsibility act.
He said he had heard from others in state.
So, both retail organizing and wholesale communication will remain
integral to building all social change movements. GRRN will continue to
function as a vehicle through which people can engage at both levels.
Cheers,

Dear David,
While it is good to have two-click activism in the context of broader
campaigns, members get some many impersonal messages like that it has
grow relatively ineffective (particularly with smaller organizations).
To get co-sponsors for the Jeffords bill takes more personal contact,
with individually done letters about why this is important, as a
recycling, environmentalist, business person or concerned citizen.
One size fits all really won't make much difference in this kind of
situation.

Thanks Pat; as announced a couple of months ago, folks can go straight
to GRRN's web action center and e-mail their Senators urging
co-sponsorship of Senator Jefford's Beverage Producer Responsibility
Act. Go to http://action.grrn.org/action/
Based on your zip code, the letter will be sent directly to your
Senators. Two-click activism at its best.
Cheers,
