The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in association with the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. present

Southeast Industrial Byproducts Beneficial Use Summit
November 4-5, 2003
Atlanta, Georgia

The beneficial use of high-volume, low-hazard industrial by-products is expanding, with a number of applications gaining market and regulatory acceptance. However, the question of whether these by-products can be recycled in an environmentally and economically sound manner is currently an impediment to further development and expansion of the practice.

The purpose of this summit is to support discussions: (a) between industry and regulators to increase the understanding of industrial by-products and regulatory programs; (b) among state regulators to share information and experiences on beneficial use regulations and determination processes; and (c) among industries to share experiences on navigating the regulatory process and to assess the potential to utilize each other's byproducts.

Come listen and participate with representatives from the private sector, reuse and recycling community, non-profit organizations, trade associations, local, state and federal government agencies. Some of the topic areas to be discussed include:

        1. overcoming barriers to collaboration
        2. establishing successful partnerships
        3. establishing viable markets
        4. innovative government and
            industry programs
