[greenyes] FW: Demand a Strong RES! : Support 20% Renewable Energy by 2020!
Right NOW the US Senate is debating energy policy and needs to
hear how renewable energy has benefited Minnesota's economy, our
environment and our health . Problem: Energy legislation currently
moving to the Senate floor gives more subsidies to big energy companies
and promotes continuing our dependence on polluting and insecure fossil
and nuclear fuels, at a time when the public is demanding cleaner energy
resources and more energy independence. Solution: Last session, the
Senate passed an energy bill that included a renewable electricity
standard (RES) requiring utilities to increase electricity generation
from clean renewable sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, and
biomass energy. Although this provision died along with the broader
energy bill, the momentum from last session made the RES a prominent
issue in the current session's energy debate. Action Needed: Please
contact both of our Senators today, urge them to co-sponsor S. 944 and
insisting that any energy bill emerging from the Senate must include a
strong Renewable Energy Standard. Deadline for responding: Please take
action by Wednesday, May 14, 2003. To take immediate action online

		Dear Friend of Minnesota's Environment,

Right NOW the US Senate is debating energy policy and
needs to hear how renewable energy has benefited Minnesota's economy,
our environment and our health .

		Problem:
Energy legislation currently moving to the
Senate floor gives more subsidies to big energy companies and promotes
continuing our dependence on polluting and insecure fossil and nuclear
fuels, at a time when the public is demanding cleaner energy resources

Last session, the Senate passed an energy bill
that included a renewable electricity standard (RES) requiring utilities
to increase electricity generation from clean renewable sources such as
wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass energy. Although this provision
died along with the broader energy bill, the momentum from last session
made the RES a prominent issue in the current session's energy debate.

them to co-sponsor S. 944 and insisting that any energy bill emerging
