For those of you who are involved in corporate campaigns in California,
the Corporate 3 Strikes Act has been introduced by Senator Romero.
The Alliance for Democracy and National Lawyers Guild attorney Robert
Benson (author of Challenging Corporate Rule: The Petition to Revoke
Unocal's Charter) have a related web page if you want more information:
www.corporate3strikes.org.
If you want to work with other groups pushing the Corporate 3 Strikes Act I
suggest contacting the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights -
www.consumerwatchdog.org (Carmen Balber and Margaret Strubel are the key
contacts); they are targeting Tenet Healthcare in their work around the
Act, but the beauty of this thing is that anyone with a corporate campaign
should be able to work the Act into their strategy.
My colleague Lee Drutman wrote a piece about the Act for CommonDreams,
posted today.

The Corporate 3 Strikes is just one of a number of good pieces of
legislation that are being introduced in California. The Senate Majority
Whip has also introduced a bill that would expand directors' duties
(modeled on the Code for Corporate Responsibility, see www.c4cr.org) - see
http://democrats.sen.ca.gov/senator/alarcon/. There is also a contractors
responsibility bill.
