[greenyes] Landfill levies

Hello greenyesser's,

I am doing some research for the next issue of the Zero Waste New Zealand
Trust's newsletter, the Zero Waste Update, into landfill levies and wondered
whether policies such as this existed within states of the US (and in other
countries around the world for those of you not based in the US, excluding
the UK)?

Would I be correct in assuming that there is no national policy re. landfill
levies? And are there any US states who have implemented such a policy?
