- Subject: [GreenYes] Mercury Products Ban in Duluth

The City Council of Duluth, Minnesota has unanimously adopted an ordinance
to ban the sale of a variety of mercury-containing devices, including fever
and basal thermometers, thermostats, blood-pressure measuring equipment,
barometers, and other products. The ordinance has now gone to the Mayor's
office for signature. A newspaper story is on the Internet at:
http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthsuperior/4139435.htm
The city has set up a mercury products collection program at its wastewater
treatment plant.
This ordinance builds upon an ordinance in nearby Ashland, Wisconsin, which
bans the sale of any product with more than 50 milligrams of mercury in it,
with the exception of amalgam fillings.
Please let me know if you would like a PDF file of the ordinance.
