[GreenYes] Aluminum

My daughter who has returned for the summer from Law school has become a devoted Heineken drinker (kids!), and there is some kind of device in the can that supposedly makes the beer taste more like it has just come from the tap.  Does anyone know what this is?  Is it a possible contaminant in aluminum recycling?
