In re: Wayne T.'s request for translations of 'landfill,' an answer back
from one of my Dutch friends, who says:

" 'afvalhoop' is what comes to mind. Or 'composthoop' if the children
   are environmentally conscious.
  "Vuilnisbelt" - the place where garbage (=vuilnis) is dumped.
   Or in Rotterdam "the Roteb", named after the company that collects
   the garbage.
   Literally 'afvalhoop' means 'pile of garbage'"
