RE: [GreenYes] recycling plastic number 5's and 6's.
When I lived in Washington State I served on a state-sponsored Packaging
Task Force that recommended doing something about plastics whihc were not
getting recycled, despite the imprints on the bottom. We wanted to imprints
to come off unless measurable progress was made. Out-of-state
representatives of the packaging industry descended on the state and
essentially made our efforts useless.

What one can do is tell consumers to only buy plastics that are effectively
recycled, like 1s and 2s. Write the manufacturers.

There was a campaign to get Heinz to put catsup in a plastic bottle that
could really be recycled and they CHANGED!

Or number 3's [shampoo, mouthwash bottles, etc]? Save them for some
future recycling opportunity? Or is this unlikely?
