[GreenYes] PVC Phase Out in Europe Considered

    According to Plastics in the Environment (Jan. 2001, "European parliament considers possible PVC substitution"), the European parliament is debating legislation that would encourage substitution away from PVC in applications where it would not lead to a worse result, and, in the meantime a clear PVC identification mark. Concerns focus on cadmium and lead stabilizers and phthalate plasticizers used in PVC. Final action has not yet occurred.
