    According to DuPage County (Illinois) Ripples Newsletter from the
    Solid Waste Education Center, 550 Center Avenue, Suite A, Carol
    Stream, Illinois 60188,
    some 2,870,000 (2 billion, 870 million!) credit card applications
    were sent out in 1999. Of that, 1% responded! As they said, in the
    business world, this is considered a successful mailing!

    To have your name removed from credit card mailing lists, send a
    name-request removal to each of the following credit bureaus:
