Greetings Bill:
I agree about not separating ourselves from those activists
that are involved in battles against incinerators and landfills/dumps. We
need them as allies and they need solutions. Looking at a "no waste"
economy with incentives for maximal material reuse is critical. How about
a moritorium on all mining and new material use? Mandatory appliance
manufacturer recycling; electronic equipment too. Sellers/manufacturers
must take back used eqipment and reuse it. We've got to find ways to get
people engaged and thinking. Perhaps sponsor a national competition
amongst citizens for creative reuse strategies: engage MTV and other young
people outlets-- Blockbusters, etc. Keep me part of the dialogue. I gave
the Kirkworks report to Timothea Howard, our program director, to mail to
you. She will be in touch too.
