[GreenYes] Re: manufacturing from raw materials vs recycled materials

If you check the Encyclopedia of Energy, 2004, at your local tech universite, it has studies on paper, plastics (bioplastic vs. petroleum-based), and likely other materials.  The other source I'd recommend is the Journal of Industrial Ecology out of MIT Press.

Hi folks,

I am looking for studies that evaluate the difference, in terms of
energy consumption or greenhouse gas emissions, between manufacturing
from raw materials vs. manufacturing from recycled materials. In other
words, how much GHG emissions are avoided by making a ton of x product
from recycled stuff instead of from raw materials?

Anything you have is welcome.

thanks,

Neil
