[GreenYes] Re: email cry for help from Ecuador

Frankly speaking, I would not encourage boycotting the companies you
mentioned because your success may lead to other social economic
problems to resolve that are as bad as the environmental issues because
these companies provide jobs that are needed for your country to strive.
Also, if these companies closed down, bootlegging will flourish when
there is a demand for the drinks. Who would you prefer to buy your
drinks from?

Why not look for ways to utilize these bottles. You can read some
examples at the following link posted by Clean Washington Center:

http://www.cwc.org/glass.htm
http://www.cwc.org/plastic.htm

Also, if you have recycling programmes in your country, maybe you can
write to them about the problem and see what can be done to encourage
the users to recycle the containers these drinks are supplied in. Maybe
there are recycling companies in other countries who will buy up them?
You never asked, you never know.

Try and see if you are able to find an artist to create an art out of
these containers. Maybe that will encourage the companies involved to do
something for their personal publicity if not for a green environment. I
tried doing that in Malaysia but the Malaysia Book of Record does not
recognise my creation and it was rejected. But you can study this idea
and see if it will work for you because I remember reading that people
in your country are very creative.
